ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course consists of four immersive games that simulate the entire process of fundraising: Major Donor Roundtable, Cultivating Donors, How to Ask, and Keeping Donors Engaged.

Through these four games you will learn:

Major Donor Roundtable
  • Select whom should advise you further about the major donor prospect(s) you are considering.
  • How to decide who actually has useful information to offer.
  • Why you should put an advisory team together who will meet (Major Donor Roundtable) routinely and support the major gifts program at your organization.
  • What information that the group shares can open doors to opportunities to get to know the prospects even better.
  • Why “staring at your own belly button” (working alone) is not the best way.
Cultivating Donors
  • How to learn about your prospective donor by engaging them in different activities that are geared to the interests that you are beginning to understand about them.
  • How to pay attention to small details of their personality, interests, and background.
  • Understand how to offer a cultivation activity that has a high value and personalized for the donor prospect.
How to Ask
  • Recognize why you need to take charge of determining the right time and place to “Ask for the Gift”.
  • How to actually ask: what do you say and do.
Keeping Donors Engaged
  • Engage in some ideas of how to keep your donor engaged, post their gift.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Comprehend much more about the entire process of working with a major donor prospect.
  • Recognize the do's and don'ts of getting to know them and their interests.
  • Generate ideas for engaging in personalized cultivating activities with the prospect, e.g., not every prospect wants to come to your evening gala and auction.
  • Master the art of effectively articulating a request for an investment in your organization.
  • Determine the right timing for making such a request.
  • Learn how to stay attuned to your prospect by observing, listening, and understanding who they are and their level of interest in your organization. Discover strategies for bringing them closer over time.
  • Understand the significance of keeping them engaged even after they have made a gift, as they remain your most promising prospects for future contributions.
