Gamification in Education
Home Journal Gamification in Education
What is it?
Gamification is the use of interactive games and challenges which include built in progressive systems and incorporation of real time problem-solving. Why is it applicable?
Gamification increases learner engagement by providing palatable information and entertaining tasks to complete. How does it work?
Game design and mechanics are implemented into informational courses where learner progression and understanding is tracked and used to deepen understanding of a topic. What are the benefits?
Gamification can be adapted to appeal to all learning styles. Without lecturing, information is retained in a much more engaging way, where the learner is interacting with whatever educational content is gamified. Gamification is at the forefront of a generational shift in learning perspectives where passive information is becoming less and less meaningful to audiences. How should it be applied?
Nonprofit training has traditionally focused on academic, formulaic, and classroom-based approaches. However, trends in education and training are rapidly moving towards tech-based, interactive training, with rapid feedback. Where “games” will replace formal lectures and conferences.
